My Story
Hola! I'm Monica Cliff, the creative force behind Inventiva Works.
I grew up in the small town of Zacatepec, Morelos, Mexico, where my love for art began. As a child, I was captivated by drawings, paintings, animations, comics, puppets, theater performances, costumes, sets, and props. I vividly remember looking at a piece of art and thinking, “How did they do that?” That spark of curiosity set me on a lifelong journey of learning, practicing, and exploring the many forms of artistic expression.
I’m passionate about experimenting with different materials and techniques, but above all, I’m drawn to the power of storytelling through visual art.
This passion led me to study Scenography—the art of designing sets, costumes, props, puppets, and lighting for the stage. I hold a bachelor’s degree in Scenography from the National Theater School of Mexico (part of the National Institute of Fine Arts) and a master’s degree in Social Innovation and Sustainability Leadership from Edgewood College.
Today, my creative studio, Inventiva Works, is based inside ART House 360—an arts organization I co-founded in Verona, Wisconsin. Through Inventiva, I aim to foster creativity, community, and cultural expression for people of all ages.
About Inventiva Works
Inventiva is the Spanish word for inventive—a perfect reflection of my approach to art. As an artist, I’m constantly reimagining what I know, giving new meaning and life to each piece I create.
What I love most about being an artist is the freedom—there are no fixed rules, only new ways to tell a story.
This website is a space where I share my creative work, the classes and workshops I offer, and a blog that dives into the creative process behind different art projects.
My hope is that this site becomes a place of connection—a way to build community through art and to inspire others, just as I’ve been inspired by the work of so many artists before me.
